Students will be able to translate a an object and to tell if an object has been translated.
Lesson
Take a shape, move it from here to there, and that's a translation. Translations are the simplest of the symmetry transformations and they are also the most important. Artists use translations to create band ornaments and wallpaper patterns.

2. ) mapping: This is read: "the x and y coordinates will become x-7 and y-3". Notice that movement left and down is negative, while movement right and up is positive - just as it is on coordinate axes.
